Cellulose nanocrystal based composites: A review

چکیده

Cellulose nanocrystals (CNC) have received much attention as renewable, biodegradable, nontoxic, and low-cost nanomaterials with some remarkable properties. Desirable engineering properties of CNC include large surface to volume ratio, high tensile strength (~10 GPa), stiffness (~110–130 flexibility. They can be chemically modified tailor their for high-end biomedical applications. Despite outstanding properties, the wide-scale application is lacking due characteristics processing challenges. To achieve full potential safer extraction methods, improved modification functionalization methods techniques are being researched. This review attempts access characterizing CNC, composites well emerging new applications smart materials. The a valuable resource researchers scientists working in industry or academia provide an update on use materials packaging, biomedical, high-efficiency energy systems.
